UBA Uganda is led by a Board comprising a Chairperson, independent Non-Executive Directors and Executive Directors.
Management
The management team of UBA Uganda is made up of a crop of seasoned and industry-recognized professionals, with diverse (but complementary) skills in various backgrounds, as well as depth of experience Over the years, these executives have brought their knowledge, experience and leadership to bear on the development and delivery of solutions (through products and services) to meet the needs of our customers and, in the process, contributing to sustaining the performance of the bank.
Chairman
Sebaggala Mustapha Kigozi
Mustapha Kigozi is the former Executive Director, Secretary Board of Directors Uganda Manufacturers’ Association, as well as a member of its Advisory Council. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (HRM) from Islamic University in Uganda, MA (Education Management & Administration) and Bachelor of Arts, Education from Makerere University, Kampala.
He played an integral role in policy formulation, analysis & advocacy by studying social, development & economic policies, plans & programmes, and interpreting their implications towards a business enabling environment. Among the many achievements was Lobbying and influencing Government policies on Trade, Investment & industrial policy both National and Regional.
Mr Ssebaggala has more than 16 years of administrative experience as a school head and also served as a member of Board governors for Kibuli Secondary School, as the chairperson of the Finance Committee, and Nabisunsa Girls School for 10 years.
His strength in strategic planning will position the Bank to achieve the intended mission of its establishment.
Non-Executive Director
Ebele Ogbue
Mr. Ebele holds a B.sc (Honours) degree in accounting from the University of Lagos and an MBA (IT & Management) from CASS business school London.
His professional career started at Price Waterhouse in 1991, before his foray into banking where he has spent the last two decades working at international banks such as Citi Bank and Standard Chartered Bank before joining UBA in 20014. His banking experience spans various areas of banking from Asset Based Finance to core Corporate Banking and Trade Finance.
Prior to his current role, he was MD/CEO, UBA Capital Europe and pioneer MD/CEO of UBA Liberia.
NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Alinaffe Kalule
Alinaffe Kalule is an Economist by profession being a holder of Master of Business Administration, a Master of Arts in Economics from Boston University, Massachusetts, U.S.A and a Bachelor of Commerce – Banking (Honours) from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.
Mr Alinaffe served in Bank of Uganda for over 15 years in senior executive positions ranging from Assistant Director to the position of Executive Director in charge of general Administration central to which was, accomplishing numerous goals in general administration, development finance oversight, strategic and operational planning, risk management, corporate governance, monitoring and evaluation.
He therefore brings to United Bank For Africa Uganda Limited great skill of corporate governance and art of administration as he is an active member to various committees among others is Board of Directors Member, ECLOF – Uganda, Governing Council Member, Chairperson of Appointments Board, and Finance Committee Member, Uganda Management Institute.
Non-Executive Director
Asmahaney Saad
Ms Asmahaney is a lawyer and an Alternative Dispute Resolution practitioner by profession. She is a Partner with KTA Advocates, a specialized law firm focusing on technology, media, telecommunications, oil and gas, Intellectual Property & Construction law in Uganda. She holds a Masters in International Business Administration (MIBA) from ESLSCA International Business School (Paris), a Diploma in Legal Practice (LDC-MUK) and a Bachelors Degree in Law (MUK – 2nd upper-class Honors) and is a Chartered Mediator (MTI-EA).
She has over 13 years’ extensive experience from advising on several matters including; oil and gas, Project financing, Infrastructure development, Mining, National Content (including Joint venture structuring), Regulatory and compliance, Governance, Environment, Health and Safety, trade and investment.
Ms Asmahaney serves on the first-ever appointed Investment Advisory Committee (IAC) that advises the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development on the Petroleum Revenue Investment Reserve fund as provided for under the Public Finance Management Act, the Board of Directors for Greater Tomorrow African Initiative (GTAI) a Not profit Organization, the Governing Council of the East African Law Society as the Secretary General elect- Uganda’s representative and is a Judiciary support volunteer accredited by the High Court of Uganda to Mediate commercial matters before the commercial court division of the High Court.
Ms Asmahaney has demonstrated proven capabilities from legal advisory, project management, developing strategy to execution of solutions. She has also undertaken various leadership roles that include; board advisory, project management, partner, business development, human resource management and general business focal point lead. She has delivered projects and results across various competencies including; telecom, extractive (inclusive oil and gas), strategy and risk, construction, financing structures, Resettlement Action Plans and project management over the implementation of various solutions.
Non-Executive Director
Rwamibazi A. Herbert
Mr. Herbert A. Rwamibazi has a rich professional and academic profile. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) of both Uganda and Kenya and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). He holds a double MBA from the Robert Gordon University in Scotland and Delhi University in India, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting Degree from Makerere University. He has a post graduate Diploma in the Mechanics of Private Equity from Middlesex University and most recently; in 2020, obtained a Private Markets Investment Program Certificate from Said Business School – University of Oxford.
He has over 25 years’ experience in executive management with an extensive track record in working with financial institutions, governments and public/private sector companies. He has led multidisciplinary teams delivering services and solutions in business management, transaction advisory investment structuring in different sectors across 25 countries in Africa.
He has previously worked with Ernst & Young, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, AH Consulting and currently works with AHC International Limited serving in Uganda, Kenya and Mauritius.
He brings to the Board of United Bank for Africa (Uganda) Limited practical experience in executive management, not only locally, but across different jurisdictions and in different industry sectors.
Non-Executive Director
Josephine Olok
Ms. Josephine Olok is an experienced leader in IT with a track record of spearheading change and cost-effective IT business strategy and projects in oil and gas, banking, technology, postal service and NGO Sectors. She holds an MBA from the University of South Wales, a Masters of Sciences in Advanced Computing and Bachelors of Science in Computing Science from Imperial College – University of London.
She has over 25 years’ experience in technology having worked in various IT roles with different key employers such as World Food Program, Posta Uganda, Equity Bank Limited, Barclays Bank United and Tullow Oil amongst others, and she left a mark as a distinguished technology specialist. Her career path has seen her hold a managerial position with JET Schools and be appointed as a non-executive director of Bight of Benin Restaurant and Uganda Manufacturers Association.
She brings to the Board key experience in administration and technological advancement, which aligns with the aspirations of the Bank as it seeks to make technological breakthroughs in its services to the Ugandan market.

Kenneth Kisambira
Kenneth is a seasoned banker with over 15 years of consistent professional financial services experience encompassing Corporate & commercial credit, Accounting & Finance, Trade finance & structuring, business strategy execution and implementation, corporate governance and team leadership.
Prior to joining UBA, he was charged with providing Leadership, driving and implementation of the business development strategy at Orient Bank (Currently I & M Bank) for the corporate, Commercial, Public sector and Financial Institutions teams for over eight years. Still, under Corporate Banking and client coverage, Kenneth has also worked with various notable financial institutions.
He holds Masters In Business Administration (MBA) from Edinburgh Business School in Scotland), Bachelors degree from Uganda Martyrs University and various on job professional training.

Kenneth Kisambira

HEAD, MARKETING AND CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS
Hoziana Niyonsaba
Hoziana was appointed Head Marketing and Corporate Communications at United Bank for Africa, Uganda in March 2023. Prior to this appointment, she had served in different capacities within UBA Uganda for over 9 years ranging from Team Lead Customer Experience in Marketing, Team Lead Customer Fulfilment Centre and as a Team member Marketing and Corporate Communications.
Hoziana has over 12 years’ experience in Customer Service and Experience in Marketing following her previous experience at Multiple Income Generation where she served as Head Customer service and Administrator and at Travel Galore Ltd where she served as Head Customer Service and Marketing before joining UBA.
She is Customer Experience Specialist (CXS) awarded by Customer Experience University of India. She also holds a Post graduate diploma in Human Resource Management from Uganda Management Institute and a Bachelors Degree in Tourism and Hospitality from Makerere University.
Chief Risk Officer
John Robert Kakeeto
Mr. John Robert Kakeeto is currently the Chief Risk Officer of United Bank for Africa Uganda Limited. He has also worked with various notable financial institutions as a Manager Risk Management. He is a seasoned Risk management practitioner with over 12 years of practical experience in financial institution risk management. John Robert has served in various control and assurance functions which include Internal audit, Internal control, compliance and Risk Management as well as served in the Operations function.
John Robert holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management from Gulu University, Bachelors of Science Degree in Quantitative Economics from Makerere University and is a Certified Public Accountant of Uganda (CPA- Uganda).
COUNTRY HEAD COMPLIANCE/MLCO
Julius Mukana
Julius Mukana is the current Head of Compliance/MLCO at United Bank for Africa (Uganda) Limited. With 12 years of experience in the banking industry, Julius has demonstrated a strong track record of leadership and expertise. Before assuming his current role, he served as a Team Lead Manager for Head Office Controls. Prior to joining United Bank for Africa, Julius held positions at esteemed institutions such as Diamond Trust Bank Uganda Limited, Barclays Bank Uganda, and Equity Bank Uganda.
Julius possesses a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Uganda Martyr’s University, complemented by a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Makerere University Kampala. He has also acquired multiple certifications in the compliance space, further highlighting his commitment to professional growth and continued learning.
Known for his results-driven approach and innovative mindset, Julius is dedicated to embracing diversity and fostering professionalism in his work. He is driven by the pursuit of excellence and constantly seeks opportunities to enhance his skills and contribute to practical solutions in the banking industry. Julius stands as an accomplished professional, embodying the qualities of a visionary leader in the banking sector.
Head of Embassies, Multilateral and Development Organisations (EMDOs)
Charity Ngabirano
Ngabirano Charity is the Head of Embassies, Multilateral and Development Organisations (EMDOs).
She has over 17 years of banking experience of which she started with Stanbic Bank as a cashier and later, 14 years at Ecobank Uganda Limited where she worked in various roles such as Head teller, Customer service Manager, Senior Operations Officer, Remittances senior Officer, Head Branch Network and Relationship manager under Public sector and International Organisations.
She possesses vast knowledge and experience in branch Banking, Operations, Remittances, transactional banking, digital banking and good client relations.
She is skilled at recognising business opportunities that increase profitability, sustain customer base, creative conversations and client solutions.
She is very passionate about customer experience to generate respect and trust and in turn, promote the institution in the delivery of services to the stakeholders in innovative ways.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from Makerere University Kampala.
COUNTRY TREASURER
Stephen Mawuli Azumah
Stephen was appointed to United Bank for Africa, Uganda in 2022 as the Country Treasurer after serving as the Chief Dealer for two years in United Bank for Africa, Ghana.
Stephen began his professional career in 2003 at NTHC Limited in Accra, where he was a member of the Business Development team that established the NTHC Horizon Fund Limited (Mutual Fund). He was appointed the first Investment Manager of the Fund and subsequently became an Executive Director of the Fund. In 2007 he joined UT Financial Services Limited which later become UT Bank where he was appointed the Treasurer of the Bank in 2017. He also had a stint with the Treasury Team of Ghana Commercial Bank. In 2018 he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers (Ghana) Limited (“PwC”) and worked with the Receivership Team where he provided strategic and financial advisory services to the receiver.
Stephen is an ACI Dealing Certificate holder from the Financial Market Association.
He holds an MSc in Information Management & Finance from the Westminster Business School, University of Westminster, UK and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics and Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
Head Legal & Company Secretary
Shamim Nambuusi
Shamim is the Head Legal & Company Secretary. Her main responsibility is to provide leadership, coordination and oversight of the legal department and ensure that the Bank maintains high standards of corporate governance.
She has over 12 years of experience in the Banking industry. Prior to joining the Bank, Shamim worked with Tropical Bank Limited and EFC Uganda Limited (MDI) where she held similar roles.
Shamim is an advocate of the High Court of Uganda, a Member of the Uganda Law Society, the East African Law Society and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA-UK).
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from the Uganda Christian University and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.
